CAMBRIDGE crowned as the best university in the UK version of the Complete University Guide (CUG). This is the second time in the last 10 years, shifting Cambridge Oxford in the annual league table of the best universities. Cambridge is in the first position of the 116 colleges as measured by student satisfaction will CUG campus, research activities, standardized admission tests, expenses for campus facilities, student grades and job prospects of graduates.
According to the researchers, Oxford is able to maintain the standard in many aspects, but exceeded in satisfaction, entrance test scores and Cambridge graduates employment opportunities.
CUG lead author Bernard Kingston said, change the position of the best universities is driven by the economic recession.
Oxford topped the majors to English language and literature, philosophy, languages and geography based on the QS World University Ranking. Cambridge foremost for math majors, linguistics and history.
Ben Sowter, QS, said the study include the views of decision makers at many institutions and to guide students to see their chances of getting a job after graduation.
"When Britain and governments around the world move closer to the higher education funding model 'students pay', the magnitude of the opportunity to get a job is becoming increasingly important for the graduates," said Sowter.
Imperial College London to be the world's best universities in the field of civil engineering and 17 other British universities included in the top 20 for at least one department.
The table is based on a global opinion survey with respondents academics and decision-makers in the field of personnel many institutions.
